Chronic diseases, rare diseases, complaints without a definitive diagnosis:<\/h1>\n

People with rare, chronic or insufficiently diagnosed diseases often have difficulty finding a doctor who can really help them.<\/h2>\n

\"ChronicA disease is classified as rare when fewer than 5 in 10,000 suffer from it. In Germany, an estimated four million people are living with clinical pictures with an unclear complex of symptoms. In 80 percent of these cases, the origin is genetic. Some patients have been living with a rare disease since birth. But many of them do not experience the symptoms of a rare disease until they have reached adulthood. Reaching the correct diagnosis of an unclear disease is often a long, frustrating process. Most practices do not have the resources to manage labour-intensive diagnostic profiles with the necessary lab procedures. Baffled and unsettled, family doctors refer these patients to specialists and clinics. These then order time-consuming, often incomplete diagnoses and helplessly refer the patient elsewhere. During their odyssey from one practice to the next, about 40% of patients are misdiagnosed at least once. Consequently, many patients receive inadequate or even incorrect treatment.<\/p>\n
